Customer Arrival building with 44,000 sf of outside exhibits, a 7,000 sf redesign from the existing customer center building to accommodate administrative functions, along with a new 1,100 sf. Customer Contact Station.  Indoor and outside exhibits, administration, and also the stunning landscape are integrated as you.  The educational content from the exhibits as well as your building are inseparable as both introduce site visitors to water cropping, greywater irrigation, climate specific architecture, and using shade, humidity, and air movement to temper outside space. The look considerably reduces the quantity of indoor, conditioned space by creating exterior, tempered microclimates for almost all the exhibit pavilions.  Meant for the Bureau of Land Management’s pursuit to encourage stewardship for that land, the mainly outside experience instills in people a feeling of personal responsibility for his or her environment’s well-being.

Many resource conserving ideas are integrated into the LEED Gold project.  The Appearance building is protected with a “big hat” (a roof with ample overhangs) that produces medium difficulty thermal transition zone and harvests rainwater employed for interpretive exhibits and landscape irrigation.  High-efficiency mechanical systems were specified, while daylighting, photo voltaic water heating, along with a 55 kW solar array convert the region’s intense sun into free energy.  A happened photo voltaic wall system provides heating for that relaxation rooms, permitting the mechanical system during these spaces to become removed.

The present customer center facility, built in 1982, was refurbished to accommodate administration for that National Conservation Area.  During these new flexible office, meeting, and work spaces, sun light is introduced in to the existing window-less space with the help of overhead light monitors.  High-efficiency lighting along with a variable refrigerant volume (VRV) mechanical system changed outdated existing equipment, offering flexible zoning and easy installation within the existing structure.
